NEMANJA MATIC was offered to AC Milan and Inter this summer, according to reports.
The forgotten man at Manchester United, 31, is clearly not part of Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s plans at Old Trafford.
With just 22 minutes under his belt for his club this season, Matic will no doubt be keen to move in order to be playing regular football.
Matic replaced Juan Mata for the final quarter of the 1-1 draw at Southampton as Scott McTominay looks to have cemented his spot in the holding midfield role for Solskjaer.
And according to Calciomercato , the Serb’s agent tried to force through a move by contacting the two San Siro clubs. It is thought they decided against making a move due to his high wage demands.
Although reports earlier this week suggested United rejected bids from both AC and Inter because they wanted more money.
Matic will become a free agent next summer if he does not sign a new contract at Old Trafford.
He will be able to talk to clubs from January to make a pre-contract agreement. Matic worked alongside Inter boss Antonio Conte at Chelsea before re-signing for Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils in 2017.
Romelu Lukaku left Manchester United for Inter in a £73million deal while Alexis Sanchez followed on loan for the season.
Midfielder Matic may not be getting much game time for his club side, but he is still wanted on the international stage for now.
He played the full 90 minutes in the 4-2 defeat to Portugal before Cristiano Ronaldo posed for photos with Matic’s son Filip and a friend before handing over his match shirt.
Matic was then brought off the bench as Serbia beat Luxembourg in their Euro 2020 qualifier, with his side currently third in Group B.
And the former Benfica man knows he will need to be playing regular football to be in contention of being part of the squad next summer, should Serbia reach the tournament.
