English Premier League side Arsenal has been given a major boost ahead of Sunday’s trip to Watford with the news that center back Rob Holding is available for selection.
The English defender has been out with a knee injury suffered in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford last December.
Holding was competing for the ball with Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford when the unfortunate incident occurred. Prior to his injury, Holding was one of the better performers for Unai Emery’s side and helped the team go on a 22 matches unbeaten run.
In his absence, the team crumbled as they had to play with error-prone German center-back Shkodran Mustafi. The eventually missed out on a top 4 place and lost the Europa League final 4-1 to Chelsea.
In more good news for the Gunners, Right-back Hector Bellerin is expected to resume full training with the first team this month after a nine-month lay off.
Bellerin was injured during Arsenal’s London derby match with Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium in January.
The Spanish defender among the favorites to be named as new Skipper following the departure of former captain Laurent Koscielny who was sold to French side, Bordeaux.
New signing Kieran Tierney is also in line to resume full training this month following a successful recovery from a groin strain sustained from his time at Scottish giants Celtic.
The injury has denied him the chance to make his Arsenal debut since his move on deadline day in the summer Transfer window.
Arsenal will face bottom-placed Watford on Sunday, September 15 from 6.30 p.m East African time.
