Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has surprised many after suspending Finance County Executive Committee Member (CECM) Charles Kerich alongside 15 other senior officers after the collapse of the Precious Talent School which claimed the lives of eight pupils on Monday morning.
Mr Kerich, the former editor of “The Star” newspaper is widely said to be Mr Sonko’s ‘blue-eyed boy’ perceived as many as his “Mr Fix-It”.
He was initially appointed to the ICT, lands and eventually the plum finance docket. Health CEC Mohamed Dagane was also suspended Wednesday.
Mr Sonko could be the Governor that has had the highest turnover of CECs and Chief Officers. He still has no deputy after Polycarp Igathe quit in a huff last year.
