Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has condemned Kenyan parents for poor parenting in Kenya. Speaking during a television Interview , Matiang’i warned that parental responsibility is solely on Kenyan parents and not the society.
In the same spirit he said the government and school can only do their part in bringing up the children the other responsibility is for parents who he says have failed terribly.
“Let’s not be hypocritical, parental responsibility in the country is very low lets not pretend. The society and the government will not raise your children for you and neither will the government its upon us parents to make our contribution,” he said.
This comes at time when the country is grappling with the a series of stories of teenagers misbehaving. Few days ago seven girls went missing with claims of being promised to act in a movie. While 44 others children aged 14 to 17 years were arrested over the weekend after they were found partying at a house in a Nairobi estate.
Luckily the girls were rescued by the DCI in Komarock ,Nairobi and reportedly the last person they contacted was a Caucasian male.
Mating’i said that their findings indicate that the people in this fiasco are adults that have created an illegal network of preying on children.
“Anyone who is found breaking the law will be held to account,”added the Interior CS
He further urged parents to instead show support and respect to government institutions that are working hard to enforce laws partly take care of their children.
