ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has bowed to massive public pressure that followed his Thursday naming of a dead man to the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) to pick the widow for the same position on Friday morning.
In a notice a special Kenya Gazette notice dated October 18, Mr Mucheru appointed Charity Kochalle to replace her late husband and former MP Robert Kochalle.
It is not clear what qualifications Mrs Kochalle holds but Mr Mucheru moved fast to save the government a huge embardassment of re-appointing a dead person.
The episode comes the same week, Kenyans went online to protest what was seen as discrimination against the youth by appointing old and inexperienced persons.
National Treasury Secretary Ukur Yattani had, Tuesday, named former Othaya MP and self-styled ‘wife’ to Kenya’s third President Mwai Kibaki Ms Mary Wambui Munene as Chairperson to the board of National Employment Authority.
