Late President Moi’s body lies-in-state at Parliament Buildings, Nairobi as Kenyans queued to view it
Kenyans continue to mourn the Nation’s longest-serving president Daniel arap Moi. His political philosophy was that of “Nyayo” (in footsteps of founding President Jomo Kenyatta).
President Moi who led the country from 1978 to 2002 last Tuesday died on Tuesday at 95.
President Uhuru Kenyatta called him an “iconic leader” just as many leaders
But he had a mixed legacy. Critics saw him as a dictator, while supporters hailed him over political and national stability.
He will be remembered as a “professor of politics” who managed to deal with political supporters and critics in a manner that had never been witnessed before.
He gained leadership tempo after he cracked down on his opponents that followed the 1982 failed coup.
The late leader was known for his clarion call of love, peace and unity.
Moi has left two sons in politics – Raymond and Gideon. Mr Moi will be buried at his Kabarak farm on Wednesday.
