Bungoma Deputy Governor Ngome Kibanani was assaulted at a funeral of Bungoma Maendeleo ya Wanawake Chairperson, Jane Wachiye on December 1.
The DG was forcefully ousted from the podium by a section of youth who assaulted him kicking him out of the funeral proceedings.
According to Kenyans, the Wetangula supporting youth were angered by the deputy governor’s sentiments where he accused Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula of misguiding the residents of Bungoma county.
“During the 2017 campaigns, Wetangula publicly declared that the senate speaker was corrupt and not fit to hold public office but now they are transversing the county together with the hope of unseating the current governor,” Ngome stated.
At that point the youth forced him off the podium.
Besides, before the drama ensued during the burial, MCA George Makari, accused the county government of involvement in corrupt dealings only for youths allied to the governor roughing him up and ousted the MCA too.
As the drama continued the mourning family, friends and church were forced to hurriedly burry their kin with fear of the chaos escalating.
This saw the the intervention of law enforces who quelled the noise as other politicians took turns to address the people.
A dissappointed Bumula MP Mwambu Mabonga asked politicians to be more thoughtful during funeral services.
