Kenya’s diplomat to Nigeria, Dr Wilfred Machage, 65, died in Abuja Saturday afternoon after a short illness, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Dr Machage, a former Migori Senator, collapsed at his home and was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Other than Nigeria, Dr Machage also covered Ivory Coast (Cote d’Ivoire), Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Togo, Niger and six other countries in Central and West Africa.

He was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta in January 2018
