Mr Michael Mutiga has joined Safaricom as head of strategy and acquisitions. He replaces long-serving Joe Ogutu who has since retired.

Mutiga was the Citi Bank’s MD and head of corporate finance for sub-Saharan Africa.

An ambitious Safaricom is planning to venture into insurance, unit trust and saving products.

Mr Mutiga formerly worked with Barclays and has served Citibank for 15 years.

He holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of Nairobi, and Masters in Law degree from Temple University.

He is an Advocate and a Certified Public Secretary.
